The Board of Directors of Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 504 (HCMUD 504) wants to ensure residents are informed about traffic safety efforts within the District and the results of recent evaluations requested on their behalf.
At the District’s request, the Office of the County Engineer completed a traffic speed study for Madera Run Parkway. Following its evaluation, the County has recommended maintaining a uniform posted speed limit of 30 miles per hour (mph) along Madera Run Parkway, from West Lake Houston Parkway to Woodland Hills Drive.
This recommendation applies to the entire corridor, including the residential areas near H-E-B, where residents have previously expressed concerns about speeding.
The County will be moving forward with updating speed limit signage to ensure consistency along the roadway. These updates will be completed in a timely manner.
Additionally, the Constable’s Office has been notified of the study results and the uniform speed limit, which supports continued enforcement efforts and increased awareness of speeding in this area.
HCMUD 504 appreciates residents who have shared concerns and feedback related to traffic safety and will continue coordinating with County partners to promote safer roadways throughout the District.
Why This Matters
• Consistency improves safety: A uniform speed limit helps reduce driver confusion and encourages safer driving behavior.
• Protects residential areas: Maintaining the 30 mph speed limit is especially important near neighborhoods, pedestrians, and nearby commercial areas.
• Supports enforcement: Updated signage and coordination with the Constable’s Office help reinforce compliance and discourage speeding.
